Their 40-foot, 16,000-pound catamaran needs a lot of power to make its multiple day trips across Charleston Harbor. So these men are no strangers to the reliability of Yamaha products.
They actually sold what was their last pair of F150s to a new owner after just 6,800 hours on the water.
The most recent Yamaha F150s have set an entirely new record and can still run strong after 8,700 hours.
“We couldn’t ask for more from outboards we typically run for more than 10 hours straight every day.” Connelly shared.
People wondered what the men did to fully maintain their F150s. Connolly simply answered, “We really didn’t do that much.” “Every time we fuel up, we add a couple of ounces of Ring Free to keep the carbon down; we keep the oil changed, and once or twice a year, we replace the plugs and water pumps, but that’s about it,” he said.
That is a one of a kind story with an original perspective on just how reliable Yamaha truly is. Connelly continued:
“As you can imagine, we have had to replace a few parts – thermostats, plugs, etc. – but really just basics, which is amazing considering the conditions in which we run and the time we put on the outboards every day.”

How is warranty handled on a Yamaha outboard?
The Yamaha Motor Corporation will send you a factory warranty card once they have received the registration from your dealer. Registrations are handled online and fully processed overnight. After being registered, it’ll be 2-4 weeks before you receive your warranty card in the mail.
You will not receive a warranty card if you purchase a previously owned Yamaha outboard, however, you can check on your limited warranty coverage online using the Yamaha website.
Once received, you can verify the length of your warranty by the model and type of use of your outboard (details are on Yamaha’s website).
You can also read more about your warranty on your warranty statement which is printed in the back of your Owner’s Manual. This will fully explain your coverage.
If you would like your warranty coverage to be verified, all you would need is your outboard’s Primary Identification number (or PID #). Once you retrieve this number, you can ask any Yamaha outboard dealer to assist you with verifying your warranty. They will do so through their online dealer systems.
What is NOT covered under warranty?
Yamaha’s limited warranty still offers some of the best protection against the strenuous costs of repairing factory defects.
However, naturally, the warranty will not cover normal maintenance or wear-and-tear.
That includes (but is not limited to): spark plugs, shear pins, hubs, propellers, anodes, water pumps and fuels and oil filters.

What is the Y.E.S program?
The Yamaha Extended Service, or Y.E.S, is Yamaha’s service program that extends additional warranty coverage for 12, 24 or 36 months.
Y.E.S will cover repairs for any mechanical breakdown caused by a factory defect or some form of faulty workmanship from the manufacturer.
Unlike the limited warranty that comes with your purchase, the Y.E.S comes at an additional cost. In order to be eligible for Y.E.S, your outboard must be within its factory warranty period.
You can purchase Y.E.S through your local authorized Yamaha dealership. Or you can also purchase by giving Yamaha a direct call.
Although you cannot transfer your Y.E.S from one unit to another, the contract can be transferred in the event that you sell or trade-in your product. This also leads to an increased trade in value of your Yamaha product.
